The skinny on road closures and parking

We’ve seen a lot of questions this afternoon about ROAD CLOSURES and PARKING for Saturday’s Hometown Festival. Here’s the scoop:

ROAD CLOSURES: Roads along the 5k and parade routes WILL be closed on and off through the morning on Saturday, as the 5k and parade progress through the north part of Round Hill. Traffic will be halted while runners and parade participants are in transit, and alternate routes during these times are highly encouraged.
North Locust Street will be closed for the duration of the Downhill Derby.

TIMING: The 5k begins at Round Hill Elementary School at 8 a.m. and typically takes approximately an hour from start to the last runner finishes. Roads will be reopened fully as the last runner passes.
The parade begins in the Greenwood Commons neighborhood at 9:30 a.m. and progresses through Hillwood Estates to Main Street and then to the Town Park. Again, roads will be closed along the route for the duration of the parade; They should be fully open between 10:30-10:45 a.m.
The downhill derby begins test runs at 2 p.m.; the official heats are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. and the race should conclude by 5:30 p.m.

PARKING: We encourage most residents to walk or ride bikes to and from the Festival whenever possible. For anyone for whom this is not practical, official Festival parking is available at the Round Hill Baptist and Round Hill Methodist Churches. Both lots are located on West Loudoun Street, less than a block from the center of town. If these lots are full, alternative parking may be found at the Round Hill Center on High Street.

We ask that residents who live along the parade route or on North Locust Street please refrain from allowing roadside parking during the day on Saturday in order to allow safe access for the parade and for the drivers of the derby cars.

Thank you!
