Grab your saws, drills and paintbrushes — it’s derby car time!

IMG_3997The Hometown Festival is nine weeks away — plenty of time to build YOUR downhill derby car! For specs and some websites to help you get started, check out the Downhill derby page.

The race is a rather unstructured social event designed to encourage participation and family fun with safety as the top priority.  Car design criteria are based primarily on safety and for low cost and ease of entry.  This is not an official soap box derby race and handmade cars with children’s participation in construction and painting is encouraged.

The design contest is open to all elementary school-aged students in the Round Hill area. Submit your designs to Mrs. Fink at Round Hill Elementary School or to the Round Hill Town Office by Thursday, April 6, to be considered. For details, see our Contest flier.
